The short version: this website has no server-side database, no user accounts and no analytics trackers. Everything you type stays in your own browser. The only third party that may set cookies is Google AdSense, and only if advertising is enabled and you consent.

1. Who operates this site and how to contact us

This site is operated by the Wilderness Survival Toolkit project. Questions, data requests or corrections: zjp133@outlook.com (see the contact page). We aim to reply within a few days.

2. Information we do NOT collect

  • No accounts, no login. We never ask for a name, password or profile.
  • No server-side storage of your inputs. Values you enter into calculators are processed by JavaScript running in your browser and are never transmitted to us.
  • No analytics or tracking pixels of our own. We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or similar trackers.
  • No sale of personal data. There is no personal data inventory to sell.

3. Information stored on your device (localStorage)

The site uses your browser's localStorage to remember preferences and your work between visits. These entries never leave your device except as described in the advertising section below. You can view or delete them at any time through your browser settings (or by clearing site data). The keys are:

  • wst_lang — your chosen language (English or Chinese).
  • wst_units — preferred unit system (metric/imperial).
  • wst_consent — your advertising-cookie consent choice.
  • wst_favs — IDs of tools you marked as favorites.
  • wst_recent — IDs of recently opened tools (on-device history).
  • wst_toolstate:t01 … t28 — each calculator's saved field values, so your work is there when you return.
  • Tool-specific checklists and timers, e.g. t04:checks, t08:tourniquetAt, t09:ticks, t18:lastThunder and t25:checks:<template>.

A service worker also caches pages, scripts, styles and images locally so the site works offline. This cache contains only the site's own public files and generated images; it holds none of your entries. Clearing site data removes it.

4. Email and the waitlist

The newsletter waitlist and contact buttons open your own email application via mailto: links. Your email address and message reach us only if you actively send them. There is no signup form that transmits your address to a server.

5. Cookies and Google AdSense

At the time of this update, Google AdSense is not configured, and this site loads no advertising scripts or third-party cookies. Should advertising be enabled in the future, the following applies:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Ad and measurement scripts load only after you accept non-essential cookies in the consent banner; rejecting leaves all site features working with no ads.
  • Google and other vendors may use non-personalized or personalized advertising depending on consent and applicable law.

Opting out of personalized advertising:

Using these opt-out tools does not remove ads entirely; it stops interest-based personalization by participating vendors.

6. European Economic Area (EEA), UK and Switzerland (GDPR)

We rely on consent for any non-essential cookies, shown through the banner on your first visit. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing site data; nothing on the site breaks without consent. Because we hold no accounts or server-side personal data, access, correction or deletion requests for your on-device data can be exercised directly via your browser, and we will assist promptly at zjp133@outlook.com.

7. California (CCPA) and other regions

We do not sell, share or process personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising of our own. Do Not Track signals are honored trivially: no tracking of ours exists to disable. The third-party advertising controls in section 5 remain your tool for Google's own processing.

8. Children's privacy

This site provides general outdoor-safety information and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. No personal data of any kind is required to use the tools. Minors should use the site with a parent or guardian, especially for medical and emergency content.

9. External links and embedded content

Pages link to authoritative external sites (CDC, EPA, NOAA/NWS, NPS and similar) and social sharing opens third-party platforms. Those sites have their own privacy policies and cookie practices; we have no control over them. Social share links only contact a platform when you click them.

10. Changes to this policy

Material changes update the date at the top. Because the site itself stores no personal data, changes typically reflect added or removed third-party services — the AdSense status above is the single fact most worth re-checking.

本站使用浏览器的 localStorage 在两次访问之间记住偏好与填写内容。除下文广告条款外，这些数据不会离开你的设备。你可随时通过浏览器设置查看或删除（清除站点数据即可）。具体键名如下：

  • wst_lang——你选择的语言（中文或英文）。
  • wst_units——偏好单位制（公制/英制）。
  • wst_consent——你的广告 Cookie 同意选择。
  • wst_favs——你收藏的工具 ID。
  • wst_recent——最近打开的工具 ID（本机历史）。
  • wst_toolstate:t01 … t28——每个计算器已保存的字段值，方便你回来继续。
  • 工具专用的勾选与计时数据，如 t04:checks、t08:tourniquetAt、t09:ticks、t18:lastThunder、t25:checks:<模板>。

此外，Service Worker 会在本地缓存页面、脚本、样式与图片以支持离线使用。该缓存只包含本站公开文件与生成的图片，不含你的任何填写内容；清除站点数据会一并删除。

4. 邮件与候补名单

订阅候补与联系按钮通过 mailto: 链接打开你自己的邮件应用。只有在你主动发送时，邮箱地址与内容才会到达我们；不存在把地址传输到服务器的注册表单。

5. Cookie 与 Google AdSense

在本政策更新之日，Google AdSense 尚未配置，本站不加载任何广告脚本或第三方 Cookie。若未来启用广告，将遵循以下规则：

  • 包括 Google 在内的第三方供应商可能使用 Cookie，根据你对本站及其他网站的历史访问投放广告。Google 对广告 Cookie（含 DART Cookie）的使用，使其及合作伙伴能够基于你对本站和/或互联网其他网站的访问投放广告。
  • 广告与衡量脚本仅在你于同意横幅中接受非必要 Cookie 后加载；拒绝后所有功能照常可用，只是没有广告。

8. 儿童隐私

本站提供通用户外安全信息，并非面向 13 岁以下儿童（或你所在司法辖区的同等最低年龄），我们也不会故意收集儿童的个人数据。使用全部工具无需提供任何个人信息。未成年人应在父母或监护人陪同下使用本站，尤其是医疗与应急内容。

9. 外部链接与嵌入内容

页面会链接至 CDC、EPA、NOAA/NWS、NPS 等权威外部网站，社交分享会打开第三方平台。这些网站有各自的隐私政策与 Cookie 实践，我们无法控制；社交分享链接仅在你点击时才会与对应平台联系。

10. 政策变更

重大变更会更新顶部日期。由于本站不存储任何个人数据，变更通常反映第三方服务的增减——上方的 AdSense 启用状态是最值得复查的一项事实。
